Not all lifesaving sport participants take part in competition, but for the majority who do, the Society offers annual provincial and national championships, and TeleGames. In addition, many local and regional competitions are organized in communities throughout Ontario every year.
The Lifesaving Society Ontario branch affirms that all participants (athletes, coaches, and officials) shall have the absolute right to participate in lifesaving sport following their expressed gender identity. Due to the binary nature of lifesaving sport competitions, all gender-diverse athletes shall declare their seeding preference (to compete with the men or the women) at the time of registration for competition.
Canada's National Lifesaving Team and many teams, athletes, and officials from Ontario also participate in international competitions like the International Life Saving Federation's biennial Lifesaving World Championships, or the Royal Life Saving Society's Commonwealth Lifesaving Championships. See Competition Calendar for dates and locations.
Ontario Championships rely on the support of volunteer officials to take on a multitude of roles. Officials Interest Forms are available for each Lifesaving Sport Championship.
