Coaching Certification Program
Lifesaving Sport Coach Level 1
Provides training for Lifesaving Instructors who wish to coach lifesaving sport at the community level. The course focuses on the fundamentals of coaching and lifesaving sport skills in the pool or in open water.
Lifesaving Sport Coach Level 1 coaches teach and certify all levels of the Society’s Lifesaving Sport Fundamentals program.
Prerequisites: Lifesaving Instructor certification (need not be current).
Instruction & certification: Current Lifesaving Sport Coach Trainers teach and certify candidates. Level 1 Coaches recertify every 2 years through professional development.
Candidate recognition: Certification card.
Instructional format: 16 hour course with 4 hour in water component. This certification may be delivered through blended learning or in-person learning.

Candidates should also bring their Canadian Lifesaving Manual and Instructor Manual to the course
Costs: In addition to the required reference materials, a certification fee is payable to the Lifesaving Society. Course organizers charge a fee to cover the costs of running the course.
Recertification: Instructors remain current by recertifying within 24 months of the last certification date. Recertification is through the Society's professional development credit system. Is it time to recertify?
