Patrol Rider (8-10 hr.) provides lifesaving knowledge and rescue techniques applicable to personal watercraft (PWC). Patrol Rider trains lifeguards to provide fast, efficient and safe response to water-related emergencies. Includes: safe operation and maintenance of the PWC; how to rescue various victim types, quick pick-ups, victim care and transport to emergency services.
Prerequisites: Minimum 16 years of age. Pleasure Craft Operator certification. National Lifeguard Service certification (waterfront or surf option recommended but not required). NL certification need not be current.
Instruction & certification: Current Patrol Rider Instructors or Lifesaving Instructors who hold Patrol Rider teach and certify candidates. The Lifesaving Society deems its certifications to be "current" for 24 months from the certification date.
