- Jason Jolicoeur and Tamara Wood, senior volunteers - So the Swim Instructors are Certified, Now What?
Mentorship is the key to your success in running your aquatic facilities. You can't do it all, so investing in your staff will, in turn, help them lead others. This session will provide strategies to help that first day Instructor find success. Then, we will review how to mentor them into a leadership role. It will explore what you can do to help develop leaders, how to deliver effective and appropriate feedback focused on inspiring our young people and help them in turn, mentor others.
- Emma Cox, Project Manager - Water You Doing? What Your Facility Needs to Know About Non-Fatal Drowning
This presentation will describe what non-fatal drowning looks like and explain why non-fatal drownings are at least 4 times more likely to occur than fatal drowning incidents. We will explore key pathways to prevention and next steps for aquatic management, deck supervisors and communities to collect information and report on non-fatal drownings.

This session explores the Lifesaving Society’s aquatic safety standards, training programs, and certification opportunities. It highlights new resources, the benefits of staff certification, and ways certified individuals can contribute to aquatic safety.
- Patrick King, Kerry Wakefield & JP Molin - Certification Reviews
What is a certification review and what are the consequences to individuals and affiliates? Learn what happens when the Lifesaving Society conducts a “Certification Review” including the circumstances that can lead to the review and the warning signs indicating program delivery is compromised.
- Patrick D’Almada & Jonathan Brooker - Learning and Improving from SEE and Comprehensive Aquatic Safety Audits
This presentation will help you utilize key insights and recommendations from audits to enhance safety in your facility. - Gary Sanger, Michael Shane & Cathy Gellegan-Colby - Preparation is Half the Battle
This session will show you how to prepare for and respond to a major incident in your aquatic facility and how to manage the next steps. We will look at specific incidents at aquatic facilities and how standards have evolved to address them. We will also provide crucial resources to help you manage these incidents, including checklists for effective response, incident guidelines for supervisors and the Lifesaving Society Major Incident Management Toolbox (MIMT).
