Job Description
- Know and adhere to the Russell Aquatics Team Standards, Mission, Vision, and Core Values
- Know all levels of our swim program and adhere to them when teaching
- Maintain an upbeat and friendly attitude at all times
- Use appropriate and job-related communication while on shift
- Work cohesively with all team members
- Be on time and present for all scheduled shifts; be in uniform at all times while on shift (bathing suit and appropriate wet shirt)
- Check iclass app prior to each shift for any class changes and/or makeups
- Know each student by name
- Set up the equipment needed prior to each shift
- Follow assigned core plans and lesson plans for the session
- Correctly teach skills applicable to the individual levels
- Correct unsafe or inaccurate behaviors as needed
- Communicate student progress to Supervisor throughout the session
- Assist Lead Instructor with tasks if class is not present
- Inform Supervisor & Aquatic Manager of any additional training you see fit for both Instructors, Lead Instructor and/or Assistant Instructors
- Complete skill trees on iClass and provide comments and feedback accurately and professionally
- Exhibit good time management skills throughout class
- Exhibit compassion to each student
- Keep pool deck clean, orderly and safe both on and after shift
- Inform your Supervisor of additional or new equipment that is needed
- Attend all staff trainings and complete trainings and tests within an appropriate timeframe
Required Qualifications
Maintain the Following Certifications:
- Lifesaving Society Swim Instructor
- Lifesaving Society Lifesaving Instructor
- National Lifeguard
- Standard First Aid and CPR C
- Possesses over 5 years of aquatic teaching experience
- Demonstrates expertise in working with children with special needs, including those on the Autism Spectrum and those with various physical and intellectual disabilities
- Quarterly trainings must be attended, and onboarding training must be completed
