Job Description
The Lifesaving Society is a national volunteer organization and registered charity. We are a full- service provider of programs, products and services designed to prevent drowning. We save lives and prevent water-related injury through our training programs, Water Smart public education, drowning research, aquatic safety management and lifesaving sport.
The Lifesaving Society Ontario Branch invites applications for the Professional Development Chair.
Job Description
Purpose: To determine an annual conference/workshop schedule and with the assistance of staff coordinate the delivery of professional development sessions at the Lifesaving Society Safe Water Symposium, and other regional and provincial workshops and conferences.
Term of Office: Appointed by the Board of Directors to the Management Training Council for a term of two years.
Reporting Relationship:
- To the Management Training Council as required.
- To the Board of Directors as required.
- To the Council of Officers as required.
Responsibilities:
- Establish objectives for the Professional Development portfolio.
- Manage approved projects.
- Chair the Research committee, including:
- Recruit committee members.
- Assign responsibilities.
- Recognize volunteer committee members.
- Attend Council meetings as scheduled and the Annual General Meeting.
- Report to Council as scheduled on the status of the portfolio’s annual objectives.
- Prepare an annual report on Professional Development accomplishments.
Required Qualifications
Skills and Experience:
Possession of the following knowledge, skills and experience will enable the selected applicant to perform the major job functions successfully.
- Proven experience, knowledge of or interest in Management Training initiatives.
- Experience in chairing meetings with volunteer groups or associations.
- Strong leadership skills and collaborative work ethic.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills
