Position: Aquatics Deck Manager
Location: Brave Waves Swim School
Reports To: VP Operations
Employment Type: Full-time, Part-time

Job Summary:
The Aquatics Deck Manager is responsible for overseeing daily operations on the pool deck, ensuring the safety and satisfaction of students, parents, and staff. This role involves managing swim instructors, maintaining a clean and organized environment, and providing exceptional customer service. The Aquatics Deck Manager plays a crucial role in upholding the high standards of Brave Waves Swim School.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage and support a team of swim instructors, lifeguards, and deck assistants.
- Conduct regular staff meetings, training sessions, and performance evaluations.
- Ensure all staff adhere to school policies, procedures, and safety protocols.
Safety and Compliance:
- Maintain a safe and orderly pool deck environment.
- Monitor swim lessons and provide feedback to ensure teaching quality and safety.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, including proper use of equipment and chemical handling.
Customer Service:
- Address parent and student inquiries, concerns, and feedback in a professional and timely manner.
- Foster positive relationships with families, promoting a welcoming and inclusive atmosphere.
- Assist with the enrollment process and scheduling as needed.
Operations and Maintenance:
- Oversee the setup and breakdown of equipment for swim classes and special events.
- Conduct regular inspections of the pool area, equipment, and facilities to ensure cleanliness and functionality.
- Coordinate with maintenance staff for any repairs or improvements needed.
Program Development:
- Collaborate with the General Manager to develop and implement new programs and activities.
- Assist in the planning and execution of swim camps, clinics, and special events.
- Continuously evaluate and improve swim curriculum and teaching methods.
Required Qualifications
- Current National Lifeguard certification, First Aid CPR-C/AED, First Aid certifications as well as Swim Instructor experience.
- Ideally experience in aquatics management or a similar role.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills.
- Strong understanding of swim instruction techniques and water safety practices.
- Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.
- Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize work and multitask.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimal direction and show initiative while also being able to work in a team setting.
- Empathetic, with the ability to motivate, praise, and develop staff.
- An ambassador of the Brave Waves Swim School culture and brand.
- Willingness to learn, grow, and develop as a leader.
- Strong swimmer, ideally aquatic leadership experience.
- Strong leadership and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Knowledge of safety regulations and compliance.
- Ability to work some weekday evenings and weekends.
