Patrol Rider (8-10 hr.) provides lifesaving knowledge and rescue techniques applicable to personal watercraft (PWC). Patrol Rider trains lifeguards to provide fast, efficient and safe response to water-related emergencies. Includes: safe operation and maintenance of the PWC; how to rescue various victim types, quick pick-ups, victim care and transport to emergency services.
Prerequisites: Minimum 16 years of age. Pleasure Craft Operator certification. National Lifeguard Service certification (waterfront or surf option recommended but not required). NL certification need not be current.
Evaluation & certification: The Patrol Rider Instructor evaluates and certifies Patrol Rider candidates. The Lifesaving Society deems its certifications to be "current" for 24 months from the certification date.
